poem

Peak of My Interest

You showed up late in summer

And struck a chord deep within me that had not been played in years

A moment was all you needed with me

You sabotaged the ten year plan purely by chance

You spoke to me in ways that I had never felt before

You hiked to the peak of my interest and set up camp

And when I tried to join you I tumbled down

For I knew that November would take you from me

Your lightning blue eyes reflecting more than sunlight

I chose to bleed inside and out for the chance to know you for a moment

When the night settles in I will leave this world knowing that I knew magnificence if only for a moment
