Happy New Year

10
The countdown starts, attempting to discount the failures of the year prior
9
The sum of 365 days amounts to nothing
8
The days will continue to get progressively colder and so will I
7
The clock winds down as your fingers are wrapped around something apple flavored and he is wrapped around you
6
The earring on the nightstand, the letter from November
5
The pungent smell of you that refuses to fade covering everything that I own
4
His fingertips following the same, familiar paths that mine used to take
3
His lips masking the taste of mine
2
Feeling like an idiot for everything that I ever said
1
The fact that I am just not good enough reinforced by the coming of the New Year
0
Happy New you
Happy no me
Happy New Year
